Let's talk about back-office support

Simply stated, back-office support are the functions that a company, team, or employee performs that supports a company’s operations.  There are many “support” functions that describe and define back-office support, including but not limited to: data entry, file maintenance, record keeping, reporting, research, etc.     

Let’s discuss file maintenance.  

Who wants to file? Usually, the answer is no one. Businesses are doing away with all things paper, but as a reminder – paper files are where it all started.  

Here are some notes regarding file maintenance:

  • Having an organized filing system is critical
  • Maintaining files helps with transitioning to electronic databases
  • Keep your paperwork organized – use binders, manila folders, etc., to maintain
  • Maintain a listing to identify what’s contained in the files for easy reference

Should you decide to convert your paper files to an electronic version, most of the work has already been done!
